The MaxiAvalanche has been and gone from Samoens for 2010 and aside from atrocious weather was a great success. Saturday's qualifying recieved great comments from the riders as to the quality of the trails - Samoens still being relatively unknown. Clearly conditions were tough but we couldn't resist some footage of the stragglers on a particularly slimy part of the stage - check out the maxi fools of Samoens 2010: (sorry guys)

After 4 timed stages it was France's Remy Absalon (leader and defending champion of the avalanche cup) who took the first spot with the rest of the top ten made up of mainly pro's.

Sunday's race saw the worst weather of the weekend, with temperatures at the start line down to - 5C and the first quarter of the course in snow - unprecedented at this time of year. The conditions made for a real tough race with Absalon coming out on top and a great 3rd place for local gb rider Alex Stock.

Next round is at Alpe D'Huez...
