MTB Holidays in the Alps

Our classic Chalet based package holidays in Briancon, in the high Alps

Bike-Alp / MTB Holidays in the French Alps

the ultimate trails, the ultimate chalet

Mountain bikers riding through a high Alpine meadow beneath rugged peaks

Staying in 'Serre Che Chalet', our beautiful home in Briancon, in the heart of the high Alps, you'll be riding the best trails the alps have to offer and coming back to the perfect mtb base at the end of those mind blowing days.

The chalet sits right in the centre of the medieval town of Briancon, with stunning views over the southern Alps, 5 ensuite rooms, a secure bike workshop and outdoor jacuzzi - perfect for unwinding with a beer and recharging for the next epic day in the mountains.

Serre Che Chalet isn't just the ultimate biking accommodation either. Situated just 10 minutes walk to the ski lifts of Serre Chevalier, it's perfect for winter breaks too - you can see the chalet site here.

We no longer offer catered stays, but as the chalet is just a few minutes walk from the bars, shops, restaurants, ski lifts and walled citadel, you'll find plenty of eating and drinking options in Briancon.

Each day we'll either ride from the chalet and use the local lifts, or take our luxury, air conditioned mini van to any one of the endless resorts and mountain passes in the region. These include the Col d'Izoard, Col de Granon, Galibier, Les Orres, Montgenevre, Sestriere, Les 2 Alpes, La Grave and many, many more. See more on our riding page here.

More than a holiday

An Alpine MTB paradise

Straight out of the door, we have access to the most epic descents of the Alps, up to 2000m drop each time!

With a quick and secure uplifting system and a massive riding area covering many different valleys, ski stations and lift options, the riding here is way more varied and adventurous than anything you might have experienced on an Alps mtb trip before.

We limit group size to 10 people, which gives you the best experience both on the trails and in the chalet.

Our riding
areas

Unlike most Alps MTB destinations, where you'll stay in a small alpine village at the end of a valley somewhere, our riding area is vast, with dozens of valleys, mountain passes and ski stations positioned all around Briancon.

Taking the title of the highest city in France and the EU, Briancon sits in the heart of the high mountains, with the highest mountain passes in the Alps leading out of the surrounding valleys. We'll do vehicle uplifts to the local Col du Granon, Galibier, Izoard and Col d'Agnel amongst others. These give us access to huge backcountry, singletrack descents that snake their way through high exposed ridges, moon like landscapes beneath the glaciers and the most open and flowy mediterannean pine forests to the valley floor. And forget the mud and rain of the northern alps. Here, the trails are bathed in over 300 days of sunshine a year, and you can be guaranteed fast rolling, dry trails that feel more like you're on the Greek islands than the high Alps.

And down each valley we find countless ski systems, with lifts adapted for mountain bikes and open throughout the summer months. They all have their own unique bike parks, untouched compared with their big name counterparts in the northern Alps, and not a braking bump in sight! But more than this, they take us high into surrounding mountains, and onto the most breathtaking, high alpine singltrack you'll find in the Alps.

Our nearby resort of La Grave for instance, famous for it's off piste skiing, feels more like a heli drop than a ski lift. Taking us up to 3300 metres altitude, the trails then pick their way through the largest glacier in the French Alps, dropping through drifty scree slopes, boulder fields, crystal clear alpine lakes and fast, flowing larch forests to the valley. A mind blowing descent of nearly 2000 metres drop and the adventure of a lifetime!

We're also right on the border with Italy, and the local resort of Montgenevre gives lift access to descents that rocket through the undulating volcanic terrain into Italy and back, stopping for a cheeky coffee and focaccia en route. And when we say volcanic, we mean it - one of our routes here takes us to the summit of an extinct volcano, and a descent back to Briancon of biblical proportions.

Each lift system and mountain pass takes us into whole new terrain, views and trail networks, and a week's stay can feel more like a point to point tour, even though we return to Briancon each evening, for a welcome beer in the jacuzzi!

This truly is the most epic spot for an Alps MTB trip, whether you're staying with us in our stunning chalet in Briancon, or booking our Alps guiding services for tailored MTB trips in the southern Alps.

Guest testimonial
Massive thanks to Steve and Eleanor for another unforgettable trip. Every year you find trails bigger and better than the last! The new lads agreed this is the best riding they've experienced in the Alps. See you next year!

Beyond the trails

Briancon. Not your average ski resort

Briançon is unlike any other mountain resort you've visited. Forget the seasonal ski resort or tiny village you may have stayed in with other MTB companies. Briançon is classified as a small city—the highest in the EU—and is home to a UNESCO World Heritage Site; huge Napoleonic forts and a stunning walled citadel that looks more like Dubrovnik than the high Alps.

Here you'll find more bars and restaurants than you can possibly visit in just one week, along with a whole lot of other amenities that you just don't find in small resorts. The lower town features proper bike shops, large supermarkets, micro breweries, summer lifts, indoor and outdoor pools, a train station and a commercial and industrial zone.

It's a buzzing mountain hub that thrives all year round and is soon to host the Winter Olympics in 2030.

It's just one more aspect of our holidays that makes them unique, and the perfect place to complete our mission; to provide the best riding, the best accommodation and the best location of any MTB holiday out there.
